Through the practice of generosity (Dāna), the Buddha’s teachings have been preserved and passed down in their pure form for over 2,600 years. While the monastic community offers the Dhamma, guidance, and spiritual support, the lay community supports the Sangha through acts of giving. This mutual relationship has kept the Buddha’s dispensation alive across generations.
