Vesak is the most auspicious day for all Buddhists around the world. It is the full moon day of May. On this day, prince Siddhartha was born in Lumbini Park, now located in Nepal. At this age of 35, on this day, he attained Buddhahood under the bodhi tree in Gaya. After his unparalleled service to men and gods for 45 years, he passed away in Kushinara on this full moon day of May. This “Thrice Blessed Day” is celebrated with various activities such as practicing generosity (Dana), Morality (Sila) and Meditation (Bhavana).
