Uposatha is a day of observance of spiritual significant events which took place in the time of the Buddha. It is a day of spiritual practice for mental purification and to experience inner peace and happiness through the cultivation of Morality (Sila), Meditation (Samadhi) and Wisdom (Panna). Participants are asked to wear a simple white cloth and to observe noble silence throughout the day. While Walking and Sitting meditation are being practiced, participants also get an opportunity of listening to Dhamma talk and joining for a discussion.
What is Uposatha practice?
It is an ancient practice started from the time of the Buddha.
Lay devotees, who are busy with their lay life, get an opportunity of experiencing a life of monastics, which gives them motivation for spiritual development.
With the practice of Uposatha, devotees learn to balance their lay life and spiritual life, thus experience true peace and joy. It also strengthens their establishment in Dhamma and learns to live in accordance with Dhamma.
Through virtue, they attain happy state, Through virtue, they experience great prosperity, Through virtue, they lead themselves to enlightenment, Thus keep virtue pure.
